Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Job description:

Full-time position Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 8:45 am
-5:15 pm, working with children and parents. Days off would be Sunday and Monday.

OVERVIEW:

The Children’s Museum of Idaho brings children, families, and the community together to engage in learning through creative play.

The Programming Assistant supports the Program Manager with our daily programming, camps, and our planetarium programs. Daily Programming consists of story time, projects, STEM activities, and planetarium shows. Activities are geared toward 2-9-year-olds.
Occasional evenings are required for special events. Schedule includes Saturdays. Must be punctual, an excellent communicator, and dependable.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Program Manager with programming, including developing new ideas, presenters, and activities.
  • Knowledge of child development (what are the appropriate educational activities for children of various ages).
  • Classroom management skills (able to monitor large groups and keep order)
  • Comfortable in leading activities in front of parents and teachers.
  • Strong Communication skills (with adults and children, that is appropriate for their age).
  • Experience with marketing, websites and events preferred

  • Positive and energetic attitude.
  • Patience, dedication, and reliability.
  • Willingness to dress up in costumes at times and have fun!
  • Ability to work some evenings for special events and programming.
  • Saturday is required.
  • Occasionally be available to work alternative days for camps.
  • Maintain a neat personal appearance and adhere to the dress code.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading programs for children 2-9yrs old.
  • Minimum of 2 years of formal education, training or experience in early childhood education.
