Operations Manager - Job Description
Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day execution of warehouse, logistics, inventory, and route operations at Freedom Beverage Distributing. This role ensures that products move accurately, efficiently, safely, and compliantly from receiving through delivery, while supporting sales execution and maintaining high service standards with customers and suppliers.
The Operations Manager reports to the General Manager and serves as the operational backbone of the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesWarehouse & Inventory Operations
• Oversee all warehouse activities including receiving, storage, picking, loading, inventory counts, and product rotation.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels, lot tracking, breakage reporting, and depletion reporting.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of beer, wine, and non‑alcoholic products in accordance with supplier and regulatory standards.
• Implement and enforce warehouse SOPs, safety protocols, and cleanliness standards.
Logistics & Distribution
• Manage daily route execution including loading accuracy, delivery scheduling, and return processing.
• Optimize routing and delivery efficiency to support service standards and cost control.
• Oversee fleet readiness, vehicle cleanliness, basic maintenance coordination, and compliance requirements.
• Serve as point of escalation for delivery issues, shortages, damages, or service failures.
People Management
• Train, schedule, and supervise warehouse and logistics personnel.
• Establish daily priorities, performance expectations, and accountability.
• Enforce safety standards and proper equipment use.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of operations staff.
Cross‑Functional Support
• Coordinate closely with sales to support account needs, product launches, and supplier programs.
• Communicate inventory constraints, delivery considerations, and operational impacts to leadership.
• Support supplier onboarding, portfolio changes, and special projects as needed.
Compliance & Risk
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state (Idaho), and local alcohol distribution regulations.
• Maintain accurate records for inventory, deliveries, and compliance reporting.
• Support audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries.
• Enforce company policies related to safety, conduct, and operational controls.
Reporting & Process Improvement
• Track and report key operational metrics including inventory accuracy, route performance, and service levels.
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
• Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs and operational documentation.
• Support system usage for inventory, routing, and reporting tools.
Qualifications• Experience in beverage distribution, logistics, warehouse operations, or related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of warehouse and delivery operations.
• Ability to manage people, prioritize tasks, and solve problems in real time.
• Working knowledge of inventory management and operational systems.
• Comfortable in a hands‑on, fast‑moving environment.
Physical & Work Requirements• Ability to lift and move cases, kegs, and pallets as needed.
• Willingness to work early mornings, flexible hours, and occasional weekends.
• Comfortable working in warehouse and field environments.
