Summary
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” AITs and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.
The AIT and Assistant Manager will share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high level duties specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared.

Sales Generation and Guest Service- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service to each Guest.
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise; assist guests in locating merchandise based on needs.
- Suggest additional items and create a wardrobe experience to fulfill Guest needs.
- Demonstrate product knowledge and share knowledge with Team members; stay informed about current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
- Maintain personal sales performance and support Team presentations using the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
- Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sale, and total net sales goals set by Store Management.
- Provide legendary service throughout the store in the Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area.
- Be knowledgeable of exchange/return procedures and leverage opportunities for showmanship.
- Complete SPG daily to accomplish goals; meet or exceed Buckle business builders and guest loyalty standards.
- Build and maintain Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
- Lead by example with showmanship and customer service; communicate Guest levels to the Team.
- Ask business-driven and showmanship questions to Managers and Team Members; accept coaching to improve sales presentations.
- Demonstrate leadership actions and standards whether the Manager is present; plan sales goals with Store Manager.
- Own the store’s sales performance (Sales, Average sale, Business builders, Denim) and show passion for product education and showmanship to create results.
- Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, referrals, and Teammate recommendations.
- Coach and build relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred programs.
- Develop skills and lead, direct, motivate and educate new Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards on daily basis.
- Maintain a positive floor culture and demonstrate appropriate dress code to model fashion.
- Participate in daily setup, training, impacting and reviewing; utilize the Performance Tracker.
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks; demonstrate denim showmanship and fit cards with Teammates and Guests.
- Create and develop results in your department; balance all DM actions and complete mid-week check-ins.
- Execute department calendars and track progress; demonstrate leadership during segments and engage Guests with product.
- Update fellow leaders and Team; remember Guest names; understand merchandise for both Gals and Guys; partner with Store Manager on education focus.
- Assist Store Manager in recruitment of all store staffing needs; explain pay and Buckle Benefits; maintain top talent contact lists; execute Leadership playbook; oversee training for non-sales positions; adapt to changing sales…
