Assistant Shop Manager Position Overview
The Take 5 Family is looking for a people-loving, outgoing, and positive individual to lead our shop. As an Assistant Shop Manager you will learn all aspects of our services—from oil changes and tire inflation to maintenance tasks—while training on the job and eventually overseeing daily operations. The role is perfect for anyone with a passion for customer service, who enjoys leading a team and wants a clear career path within a supportive family‑like environment.
Responsibilities- Check in with customers before they leave the shop to ensure satisfaction.
- Act as Shop Manager in the Manager’s absence, maintaining workflow and productivity.
- Run the floor—ensure each employee is in the right position, each vehicle is fully checked, and customers are happy.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Help count and adjust inventory.
- Train and develop subordinates, serving as a role model and holding team members accountable.
- Carry out all technician duties, including draining motor oil, changing filters, greasing chassis fittings, washing windshields, adjusting tire pressure, inspecting fluids, assisting customers with service selections, processing payments, coolant exchanges, transmission drains, restocking inventory, and maintaining shop cleanliness.
- Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly.
- Physical capability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
- Experience with automotive maintenance or a willingness to learn on the job.
- Reliable transportation.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and a shallow 3‑foot pit under cars.
