Job Summary
This position evaluates patients and provides inpatient speech therapy treatment programs based upon physician orders from inpatient providers. The role collaborates with the healthcare team to facilitate discharge planning to appropriate post‑acute or home care settings to achieve specific patient goals.
Responsibilities- Perform evaluations and provide treatment programs to facilitate patient‑specific goals.
- Assess treatment response and recommend plan changes to improve outcomes and maintain safety.
- Maintain patient records according to documentation standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure treatment protocols contribute to overall hospital quality and safety targets.
- Adapt behavior and communication strategies for the specific patient population.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Excellent judgment and decision‑making skills to manage a variety of patients and diagnoses.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology.
Work Experience
- None required.
Certifications
- Current Speech Pathologist license in the state of practice, or eligibility for licensure by examination, or reciprocity from another state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Certification of Clinical Competence from ASHA required within 2 years of hire.
Requires occasional lifting of excess 100 pounds, frequent lifting >50 pounds, and frequent lifting >20 pounds. Regular exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases. Potential exposure to hazardous medications or waste. Requires sustained walking and standing.
