Position OverviewTotal Safety is looking for an Occupational Med Technician/Paramedic to join their safety‑conscious team. The role responds to emergency situations, administering the best treatment and follow‑up plan for all emergency and non‑emergency medical situations, while also assisting in identifying hazards and assessing risks to promote safe working practices in compliance with client standards.
Medical Responsibilities- Administers the best treatment and follow‑up plan for sick and injured (emergency and non‑emergency) personnel according to established medical protocols; staying within the requirements and restrictions of level of training at all times.
- Provides both basic and advanced life support, including comprehensive patient assessment, invasive airway management, cardiac monitoring and administration of medications.
- Completes extensive written documentation on patient condition and treatment provided.
- Follows HIPAA privacy guidelines and Total Safety policies & procedures.
- Maintains accurate patient records for all patients for emergency or non‑emergency care, and maintains direct contact with TS Medical Director in all cases.
- Maintains medical supply inventory, safeguards narcotics, keeps a current copy of Total Safety Medical Guidelines on location.
- Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures; decontaminates treatment area and equipment after treatment of a patient with contagious infection or hazardous materials exposure; disposes of medical and hazardous waste according to established procedures.
- Teaches First Aid / CPR classes as needed by site supervisor, and may teach other safety related classes if certified and required.
Review Operator/Contractor’s General Safety Rules and have personnel sign a copy. Inform personnel of onsite emergency procedures and evacuation plan. Review contraband, drug, PPE, JSA, ‘Short Service Employee’ policies, hazard communications, and SDS books. Ensure personnel have proper PPE and JSA for tasks.
Safety Responsibilities – Meetings and Analysis- Attend and participate in all pre‑task safety meetings, weekly safety meetings, and pre‑tour meetings; document and file minutes.
- Perform periodic JSA audits, enter audits into the computer program, and track problems noted for unsafe trends.
- Prepare root cause analysis of incidents, collect safety initiatives, and maintain digital records.
- Ensure SDS sheets for all chemicals on site are available.
- Perform daily walk‑about inspections, review discrepancies, observe work crews, and perform periodic audits of task performance and JSA adherence.
- Assist contractor representative in OSHA compliance inspections and document findings.
- Assist in monitoring for chemical spills, upsets, overflows, and health/hygiene inspections.
- Assist in accident investigation and reporting, advise on trends indicating quality issues, consult on disease control, vaccination programs, and general health questions.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
A minimum of two (2) years working for an advanced life support EMS service, hospital, or U.S. military. One (1) year, preferred (2) years’ experience in an industrial/offshore/remote setting with a medical and safety component. Previous experience with OSHA and/or BSEE standards.
Certifications and Licenses- Paramedic level certification (Nationally Registered or MS Licensed) with PHTLS or ATLS, BLS, and ACLS. ITLS preferred.
