POSITION SUMMARYThe Physical Therapist (PT) assists patients (inmates) who have lost motor function due to injury, illness, or disability and creates a rehabilitation plan. The PT works under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and is an integral part of the medical team at their facility.
ESENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Will be required to work within a correctional facility.
- Evaluate patients' physical conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Ensures patient observation for therapy evaluations, formulates treatment plans, and provides treatment.
- Analyzes treatment plans utilizing various techniques which may include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, functional training, and mechanical modalities.
- Documents pertinent observations and logical conclusions to validate need for treatment.
- Utilizes available in-house resource personnel for treatment and resolution of identified problems before utilizing off‑site referral.
- Provides treatment of disability, injury, and disease by use of different mechanisms.
- Demonstrates proper technique of patient management according to established policy and licensure requirements.
- Supports standards of medical care through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
- Serves as a resource to other professional or non‑professional personnel providing instructions as needed.
- Participates in monthly review of quality care and chart reviews as requested.
- Notifies Site Medical Director and/or Site Health Services Administrator of schedule changes.
- Assists in arrangement for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time.
- Other duties as requested by the Site Medical Director.
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
- Current Mississippi Physical Therapist license.
- CPR/BLS Certified.
- Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Holiday Pay:
