East Mississippi State Hospital is a comprehensive state-operated mental health facility located in Meridian, Mississippi. Aboutthe Position
The Executive Assistant performs professional-level program coordination and executive support functions for the Hospital Director at East Mississippi State Hospital (EMSH). Reporting directly to the Hospital Director, this position operates in a complex, highly regulated healthcare environment and requires the ability to manage executive operations with a high degree of independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality, while managing multiple priorities simultaneously and ensuring compliance with EMSH, the Department of Mental Health (DMH), and Mississippi State Personnel Board (MSPB) requirements.
Responsibilities include coordinating executive schedules and meetings, managing program documentation and reports, monitoring deadlines and deliverables, supporting committees and executive correspondence and serving as a key liaison between the Hospital Director, executive leadership, state agencies, and external stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, the incumbent must demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and sound judgment in managing complex and sensitive information on behalf of executive leadership. Success requires the ability to prioritize and track multiple executive-level directives, coordinate across diverse departments and service lines, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and maintain strict confidentiality.
A high level of professionalism, adaptability, and understanding of hospital operations within a regulated public‑sector healthcare environment is essential.
