Responsibilities

General Purpose

  • Manage and supervise all areas assigned by the Store Manager; maintain company standards for customers, associates, and merchandising.
  • Lead the entire store operation in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Assure consistent application of company best practices and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Maximize productivity by streamlining processes.
  • Analyze store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and performance.
  • Communicate any variances from company standards to the Store Manager.
  • Schedule associates to meet business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations.
  • Oversee associate cleaning tasks, including restroom maintenance.
  • Accept special assignments as directed by leadership.
  • Administer payroll functions, including punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and reporting.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing non‑exempt associates.
  • Maintain compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate cost controls and manage expenditures within budget.
  • Control payroll hours and adjust to current business trends.
  • Fundamentally prioritize safety and execute emergency procedures.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and teach teams.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and supervise associates at registers, service desks, and sales floor.
  • Support company brand standards in appearance, cleanliness, and merchandising.
  • Ensure merchandise processing, recovery, sizing, markdowns, and presentation meet company standards.
  • Assist in loss prevention training and oversee inventory processes.
  • Monitor store policy compliance and public monitoring systems.
  • Serve as a role model for work processes, business acumen, and communication.
Qualifications and Special Skills
  • Two or more years of store or assistant store manager experience in a retail environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate positively to associates.
  • Proven multitasking, prioritization, and independent judgment skills.
  • High quality of customer service and fluency in English.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills common to retail.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Utilize store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC).
  • Stand, walk, and move up to 100% of working time.
  • Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, carrying, reaching, stooping.
  • Occasional lifting of more than 25 lbs.
  • Use of janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervision of all non‑exempt associates.
