Medical Assistant-Pca-Ob​/Gyn

Under general supervision, this role supports the primary care provider and team by providing patient care, assisting with procedures, patient care follow‑up, and maintaining patient flow. The position interacts with internal departments, businesses, insurance companies, and billing services.

• Assist in urgent and emergent medical situations, and obtain and operate emergency equipment.
• Assist provider in ensuring patient follow‑up processes, i.e., referrals, labs, obtaining patient education materials.
• Assist with management of patient flow, ensuring rooms are efficiently utilized and patient wait time is minimized.
• Cleans, prepares, and stocks all patient exam areas and workstations.
• Assist with the maintenance of essential ambulatory equipment, instruments and supplies, including care, cleaning and sterilization of equipment, and maintain inventory of medical supplies.
• Document patient care information per policies and procedures in the medical record.
• Obtain vital signs, identify reason for visit and prepare patients for visit.
• Perform basic testing procedures, e.g., EKG, urine dipstick and pregnancy tests, and administer injections as ordered by the physician.
• Prepare and support patients, and assist the provider with medical procedures.
• Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

The duties in italics listed above are not performed by the Pre‑Admissions Testing MAs.

• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required

• 1 year Medical Assistant Required

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through a nationally recognized association required within 60 days of hire (except those hired before 12/31/19)
• BLS Certification Required

Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational and other medical information.
