Safety Manager

Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, the Safety Manager will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the safety culture for the assigned business unit. Responsibilities include driving and developing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, ensuring legal compliance, and creating a culture of safety in the workplace. Key duties involve inspecting facilities for hazards, training employees on safety procedures, investigating accidents, and maintaining safety records.

• Works directly with employees at all levels to foster a culture that recognizes safety as a priority.
• Promotes a safe working culture by developing and conducting ongoing review and evaluation of safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Compiles and submits data for ongoing monthly, quarterly, annual reporting in a timely manner as well as ad hoc reporting when requested.
• Provides guidance on matters regarding OSHA, ANSI, WC, and any/all other regulatory agencies and overseas and manages compliance with these agencies or programs.
• Ensures business units remain in compliance with federal, state, local and industry safety regulations.
• Compiles checklists, instructions, documentation, and guidelines that promote safe working practices.
• Acts as contact person for safety related questions, issues or concerns for employees, agencies, customers, etc.
• Follows up on accidents/incidents as necessary including accident investigation, root cause analysis, insurance, reporting, claims follow‑up in a timely manner.
• Maintains accident and incident records according to OSHA and/or other regulatory agency guidelines.
• Preparation of safety plans, contingency plans, emergency action plans, site, or project specific safety plans, etc. for facilities and/or work site locations as needed.
• Organizes monthly safety committee meetings and follows up on relevant items as needed.
• Monitors, provides and remains in compliance with safety related information as requested or required by customers, contractors, vendors, etc.
• Monitors safety training for compliance and completion.
• Develops various leadership training and employee awareness programs as necessary.
• Provides hands‑on training as necessary.
• Assists with evaluation and selection of PPE as necessary.
• Assists with acquiring permits, submitting required reporting to regulatory agencies as necessary.
• Responsible for all health and safety tasks, requirements, and follow‑up.

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 2‑5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably within HVAC, mechanical, or commercial construction environments.
• Occupational Health and Safety or relevant field or equivalent work experience.

• OSHA 30 certification required; additional credentials (e.g., CHST, CSP, First Aid/CPR) are required.

• Ability to work independently or with others.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, including intermediate to advanced Excel.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient at Microsoft Office, including Excel, and Word.
• Superior organizational and time management skills.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must possess the ability to multitask.
