This position is responsible for the supervision and inspection of public works projects for compliance with approved plans and specifications, contract requirements, and any other relevant policies or standards. These operations can include but are not limited to roadway and sidewalk construction, crack sealing, pavement marking, earthwork, guardrail installation, driveway installation and drainage repairs.
This is a lead worker position responsible for providing direct and close supervision of a crew of laborers, equipment operators, and semi-skilled workers in the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges and other municipal projects as well as winter maintenance operations. Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class.

Reviews permit applications for completeness and accuracy; advises applicants of additional information required. Maintains record of all permits issued.
Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in construction, maintenance and repairs of drainage structures; working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to machinery and equipment required in highway maintenance and repair projects. Ability to prepare and maintain basic computer-based information records such as Microsoft Office, (word, spreadsheet and database) ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions including construction drawings and specifications, ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of assigned workers.
Graduation from standard high school or GED, Associates Degree in Civil Technology preferred; plus at least four years of experience in highway construction and maintenance work, at least two years of which in a lead worker capacity; familiarity and experience with surveying equipment, computer hardware and software operations, and reading and interpretation of blueprints and building plans; or any equivalent education and experience that demonstrated the possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must have or acquire a NH CDL-B license with Air Brakes endorsement within six months of hiring.
