Opportunity

WSP is currently searching for a Junior Party Chief to join our Land Surveying and Geospatial Team out of our Worcester-MA, Boston-MA, and Merrimack-NH offices. Be a part of a growing group of survey professionals working on a wide variety of internal and external projects and help our clients meet their objectives and solve their challenges.

Your Impact
  • This is a full-time position performing survey field work in a supporting role under the guidance of a party chief. The position may also involve performing survey field work in a leading role when needed, either working independently or with an instrument operator. Candidates will also interact with office staff and the management team when needed.
  • Candidates can expect to work on a wide variety of survey projects in different sectors such as commercial, transportation, environmental, industrial, institutional, and energy projects.
  • Candidates can expect to work on project sites within the greater Boston Area, and the entire state of Massachusetts, but there may be occasions where project sites are located outside of this area and travel may be a possibility. Project sites may be located in rural areas, urban environments, and everything in between with the majority of the work being outdoors.
  • Candidates will utilize a variety survey instruments and other equipment to obtain measurements and perform field surveys. Candidates will also prepare notes and sketches in a clear and legible manner.
  • Candidates may interact with clients and the public while in the field and need to represent WSP in a positive and professional manner.
  • Candidates may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Candidates are required to exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds and resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required; higher education in land surveying or an associated field is ideal.
  • 2+ years of experience in land surveying, geospatial services, or an associated field.
  • Basic knowledge of common survey equipment, practices, and procedures.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Successful completion of WSP’s Motor Vehicle and Background Screening.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work independently with supervision or as part of a team to complete field tasks related to land surveying.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of this position, including walking long distances and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and willingness to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and out‑of‑town work, if required by project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related discipline.
  • OSHA 10 or other safety training certifications.
  • Progressing toward LSIT or CST certifications.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Leica Infinity (or other drafting/data processing programs) – a plus.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $47,700 – $78,760. WSP USA provides the compensation range that it believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range or offer additional benefits, depending on circumstances and the type of work being performed, not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
