Job DescriptionThis position provides an opportunity to join a fast‑paced team that delivers solutions on environmental remediation projects. The work involves a combination of field and office activities, careful follow‑up of instructions, documentation, teamwork, problem‑solving, and proactive communication.
This OpportunityWSP is currently seeking an Early Career Environmental Chemist to work out of either the Merrimack, NH or Chelmsford, MA offices.
Your Impact- Validate environmental analytical data in accordance with USEPA, regional, and state‑specific validation guidelines to ensure data quality objectives are met.
- Prepare data validation narratives and data usability reports.
- Coordinate environmental laboratory services and field sampling events.
- Work with laboratories to ensure data meets client requirements and project data quality objectives.
- Manage and report environmental analytical data and geo‑environmental data through multiple software platforms.
- Under general supervision, collect and compile chemical and environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, sludge, and other matrices for scientific analysis of chemical contamination.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.
- Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
- Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions, moving approximately 50 pounds without assistance and operating vehicles on behalf of the company.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, or closely related discipline.
- 0–1 year of relevant experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel) with advanced‑level Excel skills.
- Proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or closely related discipline.
- Prior experience including internships strongly desired.
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
- Experience writing analytical SOPs, QAPPs, FSPs and other quality management documents.
- Basic knowledge of USEPA analytical methods, including experience in operation of laboratory instrumentation and associated data systems.
- Experience with EQuISTM Professional.
- 40‑Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR ).
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.

CompensationExpected Salary: $50,400 – $75,600 per annum.
