Senior Integrated Test Engineer – New Glenn, Mech Systems

About the Role

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration, heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle. You will act as an Integrated Test Engineer by planning and carrying out test engineering activities according to Blue Origin standards and practices, working with design and systems engineers to plan tests of vehicle subsystems. You will lead Critical Test Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews, develop test methods, write test procedures, manage procedural redlines, and oversee test crews, equipment, and configurations.

You will enforce safety policies, solve issues during testing, and analyze test data to support verification tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct test engineering activities for vehicle subsystems.
  • Lead critical test reviews and test readiness reviews.
  • Develop test methods and write detailed test procedures.
  • Manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns.
  • Serve as lead test engineer for assigned tests, responsible for the test, crew, and procedure.
  • Coordinate test crews, support equipment, and vehicle configurations.
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.
  • Analyze and archive test data to support verification tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands‑on experience in test procedures and Electro‑Mechanical Actuators (EMA) in complex systems.
  • Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Hazardous testing experience with a strong safety record.
  • Proven track record of working successfully in multiple fields.
  • Experience leading test teams as a Test Conductor or Test Engineer.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, testing, or operating in at least three of the following: EMA, hydraulically actuated systems, end‑effector/mechanical systems, integrated closed and open‑loop controlled mechanical systems, systems engineering practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering or similar.
  • Experience testing or operating mechanical test systems and standard hydraulics and EMA test equipment on aerospace vehicles.
  • Experience solving mechanical issues and deriving root causes for non‑nominal test issues.
  • Experience testing or operating avionics‑controlled systems via ground interface.
  • Familiarity with typical aerospace vehicle mechanical systems and verification/validation approaches.
