Role SummaryThis position is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, focused on building sustainable infrastructure for crew and cargo transport to the lunar surface. As a Principal‑level Structural Loads Analyst, you will apply your technical expertise and leadership to ensure safe human spaceflight while delivering near‑term value and solving novel problems.
Responsibilities- Solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics‑based analytical methods (hand calculations, in‑house tools, and third‑party commercial tools)
- Measure and interpret acceleration, shock, and vibration from ground and flight tests
- Model, simulate, and verify spacecraft launch, in‑space burns, and landing events
- Develop, refine, validate, and correlate Finite Element Models
- Create general loads for spacecraft and related ground systems
- Support configuration development and trade studies
- Apply proficiency in Femap, NASTRAN, and MATLAB
- Handle rigid and flexible body dynamics
- B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering
- 8+ years in the prediction/validation of low and/or high‑frequency structural dynamics and loads, plus finite element modeling
- Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals
- Passion for spacecraft structural and environmental loads development/validation
- Experience in spacecraft and launch vehicle loads development/validation
- Nastran superelement and coupled loads analysis with launch vehicles
- Proficiency with Hyperworks, NASTRAN, MATLAB, LS‑DynA, Adams, Wave6, and SEA
- High‑frequency environment prediction skills for spacecraft and launch vehicles
