This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration, heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low‑Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human‑capable.

As part of a passionate and skilled team, you’ll be responsible for structural build of space launch vehicle of primary and secondary structures. This is a hands‑on position that involves complete ownership of hardware from conceptual design to flight. We are looking for die‑hard structures engineers to apply their technical expertise to expand the boundaries of space exploration for the benefit of Earth.

Compensation Range (WA)

$99,201.00 – $

Responsibilities
  • Own the entire design cycle of structural subsystems, including conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, structural analysis, development testing, and qualification.
  • Generate and release 3‑D models, component drawings, assembly drawings, and interface control documents.
  • Perform hand calculations and FE analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
  • Plan and implement development and qualification test activities.
  • Coordinate with partners in pursuit of system‑wide optimized design, manufacturing, and operations execution.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 2+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle, or automotive structures.
  • Hands‑on experience with metallic part fabrication.
  • Strong mechanical design skills using 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with classical aerospace structures analysis techniques, e.g., Bruhn, Roarks, Niu.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and drawing standards to ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with development and/or qualification testing (test requirements, setup/configuration, test predictions, test conduct/monitoring).
  • Familiarity with composite and metallic manufacturing techniques.
  • Familiarity with bonded and bolted joint design, mechanics, and relevant analysis techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with composite part fabrication.
  • Proficiency with Creo Parametric.
  • Experience bringing high‑performance vehicles from concept to reality such as motor sport or experimental aviation.
  • Familiarity with FEA codes, e.g., Ansys, Hyper Mesh/Optistruct, or Abaqus.
  • Experience with optimization and DOE methods as applied to design, analysis, and testing.

    Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if the role requires time on a military installation.

    Drivers operating commercial motor vehicles meeting GVW or GVWR thresholds may be subject to additional federal regulations, including driver qualification files, medical certification, road test, hours of service, drug and alcohol testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements, and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain job profiles:
    Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre‑employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical.
