Fluids Systems Designer – Lunar Permanence

Blue Origin – Join us as the Fluids Systems Design Lead for the Cargo Lunar Lander. We are building sustainable infrastructure for crew and cargo transport from Earth to the lunar surface.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. Successful candidates will bring technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for safe human spaceflight.

• Build and maintain transient fluid simulation models of the subsystem in the spacecraft primarily using Matlab.
• Optimize hardware configuration, mission conops and control logic to drive overall vehicle performance.
• Drive requirements definition and test planning to validate system performance in relevant environments.
• Lead trade studies across the vehicle in a multi‑functional capacity representing the Fluids Subsystem.
• Project planning for iterative design cycles and integrated schedules leading to hardware delivery.
• Support internal and external gated reviews, documenting design maturation.

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in fluids design and analysis.
• Strong understanding of Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics.
• Strong ability and desire to analyze complex systems and deliver solutions to problems, passionate about achieving specific outcomes.
• Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety‑critical systems.
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment.

• Prior experience on spacecraft fluid systems.
• CFD experience (ANSYS Fluent and FLOW3D preferred).
• Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.).
• Experience with hydrogen and oxygen systems.
• Direct experience providing feedback for design iteration and optimization.
• Process automation experience using scripting (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.).
