Technician - Assembly & Integration (All Levels, Off Shifts, Evergreen)

Position Specific Details- Multiple positions available
- Shifts:
- B | Monday – Thursday (3:30 pm‑2:00 am)
- C | Friday – Sunday (5 am‑5:30 pm)
- D | Friday‑Sunday (5 pm‑5:30 am)
- Configure new production work areas with necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize delays during transition to high‑rate manufacturing.
- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) and precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, etc.) to maintain high safety and quality standards.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency, enhancing overall productivity.
- Drive the transition from development to production, proactively performing troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and test payload systems and hardware by applying materials, conducting painting, sealing, composite lay‑up, repairs, testing, and assisting with vehicle assembly and installation.
The Test team at Blue Origin plays a pivotal role in advancing the efficiency and reliability of aerospace components through cutting‑edge testing techniques. As a technician on this team, you will engage in component testing as well as structural testing using various methods and operate specialized equipment such as torque wrenches, particle counters, and mass spectrometers. Your expertise will be needed for complex test set‑ups that require multiple skills and processes: torque, safety wire, cable/harness routing, strain gauge installation, application of lubricants, thermocouple installation, accelerometers, and basic fabrication practices.
Adhering to standard practices and procedures will ensure high‑quality testing results.
- Experience with aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another related field: 0‑3 years (Level I Technician), 3+ years (Level II Technician), 5+ years (Level III Technician).
- Experience with pneumatic/fluids systems, hydraulics, electrical controls cabinet wiring, harness routing/management, data acquisition and/or networking systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
- Experience with precision calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, and optical measuring instruments.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
- Expertise in various applications, including adhesives, sealants, and thermal blankets.
- Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field.
- Experience with cryogenic systems, fluid assembly, and aerospace/launch vehicle assembly, crucial for ensuring the integrity and reliability of our spacecraft's propulsion systems.
- Knowledge of precision assembly processes and handling large aerospace components.
- Strong technical and leadership skills with a keen attention to detail, essential for leading teams in complex integration tasks.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in teams to foster a positive work environment.
- Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes, driving innovation.
- Experience working on aerospace payloads, fairings, capsules.
- Experience with large out‑of‑autoclave curing and production control systems.
- ATF Certification for handling and/or installing explosives.
- Siemens 840D controller experience, G‑ and M‑code familiarity.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
- Willingness to work overtime.
