This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. You will oversee the development of multiple items associated with system prototyping and rapid development and contribute to transforming how rockets and space vehicles are made and operated.

This role requires a dynamic, collaborative, and detail-oriented approach in a startup-like environment with opportunities to learn and contribute broadly across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the System Prototyping and rapid development team, including hands-on leadership, developing resource plans, conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, assigning tasks, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Interface with area leadership to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
  • Document and standardize production processes in collaboration with engineering.
  • Collaborate with engineering to make design recommendations that enable easier manufacturing.
  • Review work instructions and provide recommended changes.
  • Assure continued training and skills development to attract, develop, and retain great people.
  • Set up new development work areas, including layouts, tooling and equipment setup.
  • Forecast and develop recovery plans for constraints critical to the vehicle delivery schedule.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned or beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision.
Qualifications
  • Direct/Indirect leadership experience, working on aerospace development programs or production lines.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions and test procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles.
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to set a high hiring bar while evaluating and hiring top talent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams across large geographic distances.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; the job is never complete and optimization is ongoing.
  • Ability to work off-shift, extended hours, overtime, and weekends if necessary.
  • Curiosity about understanding the details of the business and how to optimize it.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight.
Desired
  • 10+ years in a technician position, working on aerospace development programs or production lines.
  • Scheduling and planning skillset.
  • Proficiency with resource-loaded schedules using Primavera (P6), Open Plan, MS Project, or similar tools.
  • Experience handling large aerospace components.
  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
