Overview
Senior Pneumatic Panel Technician at Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC – Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, FL.
Location:
100% onsite. Roles would start in a shop environment in Western Florida (Tampa) and transition into the field at Kennedy Space Center (if desired).

Responsibilities- Panel integration: fabricate, inspect, and test ground safety equipment assemblies and panel/racks integral to spaceflight systems.
- Integrate electronic equipment systems for space system components for the Artemis programs; assemble complex electromechanical racks, panels, and subassemblies.
- Contribute to safe, reliable, and groundbreaking advancements in human spaceflight through your work on panel assemblies.
- Install avionics components and systems, ensuring operational reliability and adherence to design specifications.
- Read work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials, sequence of assembly, and required materials.
- Mount and install components (PLCs, HMIs, relays, contractors, switches, terminal blocks) in panel enclosures; assemble cables, buses, and electromechanical systems.
- Fabricate wire harnesses by measuring, cutting, soldering, and/or crimping wires and contacts.
- Conduct detailed installations including tubing and intricate cable harness configurations; ensure avionics installations meet safety and quality standards.
- Inspect, test, and verify avionics assemblies against technical models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Troubleshoot panel system issues; perform modifications, rework, repairs, or maintenance to resolve malfunctions.
- Ensure optimal function of GSE systems through thorough inspections, cleanings, measurements, and testing.
- Adhere to quality management systems standards, requirements, and procedures.
- Collaborate with teams to perform in-field harness installations.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts in avionics installation processes, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a collaborative team environment, balance multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving project needs.
- Foster respectful, inclusive teamwork to maintain a collaborative culture.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years' experience as an electrical/cable fabrication technician or related experience. Applicants with more experience may be considered for a higher-level Avionics Technician position.
- Ability to perform field inspections and participate in project walkdowns (extensive walking, ladders/scaffolding, uneven surfaces, confined spaces, lifting up to 40 lbs).
- Experience with panel, wiring, and mechanical installs; ability to read engineering drawings, wire diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Experience with avionics/panel manufacturing and operation of related test equipment; proficiency in harsh environment test and assembly procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739, J-STD-001, and ANSI/ESD S20.20.
- Proficiency with measurement tools and basic math concepts.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality products and services with a focus on continual improvement.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Additional technical training or industry certification preferred.
- Trade school training, related degree, or military experience.
- 5–10 years in a manufacturing role in aerospace or similar industry, focusing on rack or panel fabrication.
- Proven hands-on technical leadership experience.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
- Pneumatic, electromechanical, and electrical/mechanical assembly background.
- IPC J-Std-001 and/or IPC-620 certification; NASA space addendum 8739.4 certification is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix problems.
