Blue Origin invites senior software engineers to join the Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE) program, where generative AI and embedded software converge to power the next generation of space vehicles.
Responsibilities- Build platform software for embedded avionics, including device drivers, middleware, and applications that power next‑generation aerospace technology.
- Partner with hardware and systems engineers to shape software requirements and create seamless integration across multiple hardware platforms.
- Contribute to architecture and design discussions that influence the future of embedded systems.
- Drive innovation through performance optimization and implementation of scalable, portable software solutions.
- Ensure highest quality by conducting comprehensive testing, debugging, and performance analysis across varied hardware environments.
- Create clear, comprehensive documentation, including requirements, design specifications, and API references that benefit the entire team.
- Act as a mentor through collaborative code reviews and constructive feedback that elevates everyone's capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in embedded software development.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
- Deep understanding of real‑time systems, multitasking, and synchronization in embedded environments.
- Experience with software loaders, device drivers, middleware, hardware abstraction, and low‑level interfaces.
- Knowledge of multiple hardware architectures (ARM, x86) and RTOS/Linux embedded environments.
- Experience with CI/CD environments and tools such as Git Lab, Jira, Confluence.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and collaborative teamwork experience.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to collaborative team culture.
- Familiarity with NASA Core Flight Software (CFE).
- Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I²C, UART, CAN) and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT).
- Experience in safety‑critical software development within aerospace, automotive, or similar industries.
