Medical Secretary or Team Secretary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, adaptable and well‑motivated Medical Secretary or Team Secretary to join the Adult Community Mental Health Teams providing secretarial support to Consultant Psychiatrists and their teams. The post holder should demonstrate a caring and sensitive approach to their work.

This role is a full‑time position, working Monday - Friday. Four posts are available and will be based in Liskeard, St Austell, Truro and Redruth.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and sensitivity when dealing with contentious and complex information.
  • Coordinate and organise action arising from correspondence and ensure prompt and efficient response by the Consultants and Junior Medical Support Staff.
  • Coordinate with other professionals, outside agencies, legal staff, Trust staff etc.
  • Responsible for up‑to‑date maintenance of diaries for the medical team.
  • Maintain clinic lists to ensure clients are seen within key target times.
  • Attend meetings, as necessary, take and transcribe minutes, follow actions notes and disseminate information as required.
Person Specification Education Qualifications
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
  • RSA/OCR II Audio‑Typing or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Computer literate with experience of spreadsheets and databases.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to manage own workload and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Minute taking.
