Position: Contract Manager (EU)

Overview

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to join the EMEAI Legal Team. This exciting and challenging role is responsible for contract activity, primarily sales related commercial contracts and customer-oriented agreements. The candidate will be based in the UK or Italy and report to the Senior Director Associate General Counsel EMEAI. The contract professional will function as a domain expert on commercial contracts issues, providing guidance to internal business teams (e.g., legal, financial and commercial) for the resolution of contract-related issues.

The Contract Manager will work across the organisation, as well as with external customers, to:

  • Review moderate to complex solicitations and work with the commercial organization to prepare responses to requests for tender, proposals, bids, and contracts.
  • Analyse and negotiate contract requirements, special provisions, and terms and conditions to mitigate risks while ensuring revenue is not impacted.
  • Perform contract review in compliance with corporate business strategy, policies and commercial procedures.
  • Prepare and send approval requests to SMEs in accordance with internal escalation processes.
  • Prepare signature memos with all relevant approvals and route for signature.
  • File all fully executed agreements and negotiate any related amendments.
  • Serve as a focal point for communication with finance and commercial teams.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Oxford Nanopore products and technology.
What We're Looking For
  • Excellent communication skills, with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Strong understanding of contracting concepts and applicable contract law, including government and international contract regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise work.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills to ensure timely progression of contract negotiations.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently but within internal approval matrices.
  • A degree in Law and/or Life Sciences is essential, along with extensive knowledge and experience of contract management, preferably in the Life Sciences or tech industry.
  • Fluency in English, and another European language (Italian and/or Spanish preferred) is required.
  • Experience working in both start-ups and large organizations is desirable.
