Salary: NJC Scale 5, £24,790 - £25,584 pro rata
City College Peterborough is seeking an enthusiastic, positive, and learner-focused Teaching and Service Assistant to join our Study Skills programme. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people and helping them build the confidence and independence needed for their next steps in life.
You will work with a diverse group of learners aged 16-24, including learners with special educational needs, providing support both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with lead tutors, you will help learners engage with lesson content, develop key skills, and achieve positive outcomes.

As a Teaching and Service Assistant, your responsibilities will include supporting individual learners and small groups, helping them to access learning materials and fully participate in lessons. You will assist tutors in preparing resources for class activities and support with monitoring and recording learner progress using Pro Monitor.
Our aim is to support learners to become independent, confident, and ready to progress. To do this well, you will be proactive, adaptable, and committed to putting learners first.
The Successful Candidate Will Be Able To:- Establish positive and effective working relationships with learners
- Provide high-quality support inside and outside the classroom
- Support learners with personal care when required
- Communicate clearly and effectively with learners and staff
- Work collaboratively with tutors to ensure appropriate challenge for learners
Experience:
- Experience working in an education setting
- Experience supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Experience of administering personal care
