Primary School Teaching Assistant – Merthyr Tydfil

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Primary School Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role in a primary school located in the South East Wales region. This position is ideal for candidates with an interest in supporting early years education and promoting positive, inclusive classroom environments.

The Primary School Teaching Assistant will work closely with the Class Teacher to support pupils across the foundation phase. The role requires effective classroom assistance, fostering a nurturing and safe setting that encourages learning and development for children. Previous experience working with young children, particularly within primary education settings, is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities include supporting classroom activities, assisting with behaviour management, and helping create an inclusive environment in line with safeguarding and child protection policies. The successful candidate must be able to communicate in Welsh and English, demonstrating excellent communication skills. Knowledge of special educational needs (SEN) and familiarity with Ofsted standards will be advantageous.

Candidates should hold relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, or equivalent childcare-related qualifications. A thorough understanding of Safeguarding and GDPR policies, along with a commitment to promoting equality and diversity, is essential.

The ideal Primary School Teaching Assistant in Merthyr Tydfil will be proactive, supportive, and adaptable, with a genuine passion for working with young children. The role offers a daily rate of £88.92 or higher, depending on experience, working Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
