About the role

At Bunscoill Ghaelgagh, you will teach through the medium of Manx enabling children to become confident, articulate bilingual learners. You will create a kind, happy and safe classroom environment where every child feels included, valued and inspired to succeed.
You will set high expectations and plan engaging, well-structured lessons that build on pupils' prior knowledge, using immersive language approaches to develop fluency and understanding. Through careful assessment and responsive teaching, you will meet a wide range of strengths and needs, ensuring all pupils make strong progress across the curriculum.

You will use consistent routines and positive relationships to support behaviour and wellbeing, helping every child to flourish.

- Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, you will be offered two pensions arrangements:
Teachers Superannuation scheme or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) arrangement. - If you are returning to the island and have participated in the Department's Student Loan scheme for tuition fees, the loan will be repaid by the Department upon completion of your second year working as a teacher at one of the island's schools. The repayment is subject to a maximum of £7,500 for a three year degree course or £10,000 for a four year degree course, and the requirements detailed in the Teacher Loan Cancellation Policy.
- For those returning to the island after graduating from university, you will receive a refund on your national insurance contributions during the first 12 months of your employment, up to £4,400.
- Access to the Isle of Man Public Service Cycle to Work scheme after your first year of employment.
- Access to the Learning, Education and Development training facility, which is exclusively for Public Service employees, to keep on top of your continuous professional development.
- Free access to the Isle of Man Government Staff Welfare Service which offers professional counselling, emotional support and signposting on a wide range of issues.
- Discounted access to the NSC gym and island swimming pools as well as 1-to-1 support programmes and exercise classes with qualified instructors through the ACTIV8 scheme.
- You may be eligible for a Blue Light Card, unlocking a wide range of exclusive discounts on shopping, food and leisure activities at hundreds of popular high street and online retailers.
- Free on-site car parking.
- An enhanced with barring police check is required for this post, the cost of which will be covered by the Isle of Man Government.
- Please note a relocation package is not available for this role.
