Location:

Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl (North Wales) and Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm (Mostyn).

Requirements: 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at 4/C or above including Science, Maths and English.

Salary: £17,510 in the 1st year, rising incrementally each year in line with internal pay scales and the national minimum wage. Benefits include pension and private single medical cover.

RWE Renewables offers a 3‑year apprenticeship scheme to develop technicians working on wind turbines. The first 2 years are classroom‑based at a bespoke wind turbine training facility at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl. The 3rd year involves on‑site training at Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm operating from Mostyn.

The apprenticeship delivers a comprehensive learning programme with classroom training and on‑site experience alongside experienced technicians. Completion yields an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Wind Turbine Operations and Maintenance and a Level 3 Diploma in Wind Turbine Maintenance.

• Electro/Mechanical problem‑solving of wind turbines, working in small teams at height in remote locations using user manuals as reference
• Operate advanced mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment safely
• Plan tools, spares and materials required for each job prior to execution
• Fault find and diagnose turbine main components to determine if on‑site repair is possible or the unit requires exchange
• Pursue ongoing personal development to become a multi‑skilled technician covering inspection, maintenance and repair of wind turbines

• Capable of working at height and at sea
• Willing to work shifts and standby or on‑call duties
• Must live within one hour of the site

All apprentices will study full‑time for the first 2 years at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl in North Wales during term time before being deployed at Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm in Mostyn for the 3rd year to gain practical experience of working on a wind farm.

Term‑time accommodation provided with rent and utilities paid by RWE. Commute to college each day is paid unless group travel is arranged by RWE.

All reasonable travel costs to the assessment day will be paid by RWE and discussed upon invitation.
