- Office based role with regular travel to sites and various projects
- Based in either our Energy sector or in‑house Applied Engineering team for the duration of 2‑year programme

Murphy is hiring Graduate Electrical Engineers to work alongside our experienced site engineers across multi‑discipline construction projects from large‑scale civils, oil & gas and electricity upgrade projects as part of the green energy transition across the UK. The graduate scheme offers both technical and soft skills courses to help your professional development and growth as an electrical engineer.
When you join as a Graduate Electrical Engineer you will be signed up to our IET Approved Training Scheme. Our scheme will help you get the skills, knowledge and experience you need to complete the initial professional development (IPD) stage of your path to becoming professionally qualified.
You will have the support of a business mentor, to help your progress in the role and support your onboarding in the company, and a dedicated mentor who will guide you on your professional journey to IET membership.
You will be given the opportunity to work on different projects and gain an understanding of various aspects of civil engineering, broadening your understanding and putting into practice what you have learnt during your time at university.
Key Responsibilities- Review client technical specifications, scopes of works, and technical reports.
- Use software packages such as AutoCAD or Revit.
- Work with an engineer reviewing, producing, and updating project drawings using CAD or Revit.
- Understand design calculations, such as electrical forces, voltage drops, and thermal effects.
- Review specifications / data sheets in support of design and procurement activities.
- Attend and participate in internal technical meetings.
- Be a party to external, client, and third‑party meetings.
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

There is the opportunity for you to move around projects in the UK & Ireland, depending on business requirements and project size. Working on different projects will enable you to maximise your learning and exposure to your field of study.
