The Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, optimising processes, and ensuring the successful development and delivery of high-quality electronic products. This role requires a strategic thinker, a strong leader, and a collaborator who can guide cross-functional teams to achieve technical excellence and business objectives

Summary of positionReporting to the Operations Director/Operations Manager, lead and manage the engineering function, comprising an Engineering Test Lead, five Test Technicians and a Process Engineer.

- Lead, mentor, and inspire a small team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Define clear roles and responsibilities within the engineering team, ensuring efficient task allocation and optimal utilisation of resources.
- Assist the NPI manager through the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Production, Test, Quality, PCBA, and Purchasing, to ensure seamless product development.
- Manage the RMA process and produce timely failure analysis reports to be shared with customers and provide quotes for refurbishment/repair work as necessary.
- Possess a deep understanding of electronic manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies to make informed decisions and provide technical guidance to the team.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and maintain the company's technical leadership
- Develop and manage project plans, and resource allocations, ensuring timely delivery of products while managing risk and mitigating potential issues.
- Communicate project status, milestones, and challenges to departments during Production meetings, providing transparency and maintaining alignment across teams.
- Implement and uphold rigorous quality control processes within the engineering department to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with the Quality department to establish quality standards and expectations and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product development cycle.
- Ensure the SMT suite of machinery is maintained and supported with key staff and their training to operate the machinery competently, ensuring operational capability.
- Any additional responsibilities deemed appropriate in-line with business development.
- Displaying personal professional behaviour in line with Company HR policies.
- Play an active role within the Engineering & Management team. This will be accomplished by collaborating with other departments in order to facilitate issue resolution and participate in cross functional team projects.
- The Engineering Manager could carry out any other duties within their competences as required by the Chief Operating Officer.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- Previous experience in an engineering supervisory, team leadership or management role within the electronic manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, support and develop engineering or technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes, design principles, and quality control.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
- Ability to make strategic decisions, solve complex problems, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience of working in an ISO 9001 or 13485 environment.
- Knowledge and experience with SMT machines.
Hours are 7.45am-4.30pm Monday - Thursday and 7.45am - 1pm Friday. 39 hours per week.
