The Medicines Management Directorate has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed registered Bank Pharmacy Technician.
Our Band 5 Technicians are valued members of the multidisciplinary team at ward level and work as ACTs in the automated, Technician‑led dispensary. You will gain experience across a variety of clinical specialities, working closely with pharmacists and other health care professionals to deliver a high quality, patient‑focussed medicines management service.
Main duties of the jobThe main duties will depend on previous experience but will encompass:
Working as an Accredited Checking and Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician.
- Dispensing and issuing prescriptions both in the department and at ward level
- Participation in the ward based medicines management service undertaking accurate drug histories, assessing patients medication for suitability to use, organising supplies for patients use when in hospital and at discharge and providing advice and counselling to patients (if not accredited you will be expected to undertake the all‑Wales qualification to allow you to undertake this aspect of the role)

Person Specification Qualifications and/or Knowledge- BTEC Pharmacy Technician or equivalent in pharmaceutical science NVQ level 3 pharmaceutical sciences Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician Accredited Medicines management Pharmacy Technician Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
- post qualification experience as a Pharmacy Technician Previous experience working in a hospital setting Organising dispensary workflow
- Experience in all areas of hospital pharmacy Supervisory management experience
- Good communicator both written and verbal
- Ability to speak Welsh
