Morson are currently recruiting for Buyers to join an established procurement function in the Defence industry. You would support the Senior Buyer responsible for procurement across 2 production sites producing specialist military land vehicles. We’re ideally looking for someone with a background of building supply chains within the engineering industry.
The roles are being offered on a 6 month basis with the possibility of further extensions. The role will be based in Merthyr Tydfil with a minimum expectation of 3 days per week onsite across a 40 hour week. We’re ideally looking to pay a rate of £290 per day PAYE or £400 per day Umbrella Inside IR35.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine day-to-day activities administering and expediting purchase orders
- Managing MRP requirements to satisfy production schedules and implementation of appropriate recovery plans
- Receive Bills of Materials and carry out system checks on materials and services
- Negotiate with suppliers obtaining best price and lead times
- Liaise with customers/ suppliers to respond to routine queries
- Monitoring and measuring process performance producing regular and accurate management information/reports as required
- Adheres to a range of standard procedures and precedents to solve problems which arise
Requirements
- Experience managing a supply chain within an engineering or production environment
- Prior experience building and maintaining supplier relationships
- An understanding of techniques that drive Quality/cost improvement
- Experience with Supplier KPI’s and performance management
- Ability to draft standard letters and responses
- Good understanding of MRP and other planning systems
- The ability to read technical drawings, as well as an engineering background would be preferred
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will need to be BPSS cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
