Role
Lead Supervisor OME – West FreughAs a Lead Supervisor OME, you will play a critical role in leading teams responsible for the safe storage, handling, processing and transportation of explosives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining the highest standards of operational safety across our licensed explosives facilities.
Day-to-day, you'll supervise OME activities, manage explosives facilities, support operational delivery, and lead a team of OME Technicians and Apprentices across both the West Freugh and Eskmeals sites.
Responsibilities- Leading and supervising teams undertaking the storage, handling, processing and transportation of explosive substances and articles
- Managing licensed explosives facilities and ensuring compliance with internal frameworks and external regulatory requirements
- Maintaining stock control, auditing inventory levels and overseeing explosives accounting processes
- Conducting safety inspections, audits and compliance checks within explosives environments
- Supervising the loading, unloading, receipt, dispatch and storage of explosives and related materials
- Providing leadership, coaching and task allocation to ensure safe and effective operational delivery
- Extensive experience within explosives, munitions and ordnance environments
- Strong understanding of explosives storage, processing and facility management
- Knowledge of explosives regulatory frameworks and explosives licensing requirements
- Understanding of ESTC Standard 6 or TS 2023-03 and associated maintenance requirements for explosives facilities
- Knowledge of HERO principles, electrical categories and processing regimes within explosives environments
- Experience leading, supervising and developing technical teams
- Degree or HNC in a relevant discipline, industry-recognised equivalent qualification, or significant practical experience gained through an extensive OME career
- Evidence of working towards, or willingness to work towards, professional membership of a recognised industry body such as the Institute of Explosives Engineers
- Evidence of working towards, or willingness to attain, Eng Tech status
This role is 37 hours per week based at our West Freugh site. Frequent travel between West Freugh and Eskmeals sites will be required.
Security ClearanceAll applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
