Amentum is a Lot 1 delivery partner within the Decommissioning and Nuclear Waste Partners (DNWP) Framework, a major Sellafield programme worth up to £4.6billion and running for up to 15 years. The framework is focused on safely accelerating decommissioning, remediation and high‑hazard risk reduction across one of the most complex nuclear sites in the world.

Our nuclear team supports the front‑end design, engineering, technical leadership and delivery expertise required across the DNWP portfolio. We are looking for individuals with high‑value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to who can work collaboratively, embrace new challenges and contribute to the mission of safely and efficiently delivering Sellafield’s decommissioning and nuclear waste objectives.

About the Opportunity

The Dose Controller plays a key role in ensuring that radiological exposures for personnel working in nuclear facilities are closely monitored, accurately recorded, and kept as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). The role provides real‑time dose oversight, supports planning for radiological work, and ensures compliance with UK radiation protection legislation and site-specific arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and record personnel dose uptake in real time during work in controlled areas.
  • On site control of dose badges and monitoring collection dates, issues etc.
  • Track cumulative dose exposure and ensure individuals remain within statutory and site limits.
  • Maintain accurate dose logs and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Escalate issues where dose trends approach thresholds or unexpected readings occur.
  • Support job planning by providing radiological dose rate information and forecasts.
  • Contribute to the development of safe systems of work and radiological job packs.
  • Assist in estimating predicted dose for work tasks and ensuring ALARP principles are embedded.
  • Advise on radiological hazards and required control measures before work begins.
  • Liaise with Health Physics Monitors, RPS, operational teams, and supervision to coordinate safe radiological working practices.
  • Communicate dose status clearly to workers during tasks, ensuring awareness of exposure.
  • Support debriefs and lessons learned relating to radiological performance and unexpected exposures.
  • Ensure all dose control activities meet the requirements of:
    • Ionising Radiations Regulations (IRR

    • Nuclear site licence conditions
    • Local rules and radiological safety procedures
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and investigations relating to dose control.
