The Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates all activities of designated projects from inception to completion. This role ensures quality delivery, controls project costs, and meets scheduling deadlines to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform all duties and responsibilities following Sunland's core values.
- Review project estimate, proposal, specifications, and plans to develop and manage the project schedule, budget, staffing requirements, and equipment needs.
- Coordinate project schedule and expectations with production team, contractors, sub‑contractors, utility providers, and required governmental agencies before work begins.
- Advocate for safety and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Obtain necessary permits and licenses required for the job.
- Participate and/or lead pre‑construction meetings, including meetings with project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with superintendent, foreman, and project consultant to establish the production schedule.
- Develop a work plan with superintendent and foreman for each project phase.
- Track progress, review project tasks, and modify schedules or processes as needed to meet project goals.
- Enforce safety regulations and proper job‑site management.
- Manage financial components of the project: capture, record, assess, and ensure projects stay within budget and are profitable.
- Partner with the estimating team to complete a smooth hand‑off from estimating to production.
- Participate in bid reviews.
- Prepare project reports for management and customers regarding job costs and schedule.
- Provide technical advice to resolve project challenges.
- Oversee project quality control to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Motivate, mentor, and develop direct reports.
- Any additional duties assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Safety- This is a safety‑sensitive position subject to the company’s drug and alcohol policy and OSHA regulations.
- All employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Act as a safety ambassador: comply with laws, enforce safe work practices, and proactively identify and remedy hazards.
- Operate at construction sites and offices, using standard office equipment, communicating verbally, reading printed materials, and handling tools up to 50 pounds.
- Work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, and equipment within safety guidelines.
- Work outside routinely in various weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, viruses, and machinery hazards.
This is a full‑time position; occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
TravelMust be willing to travel to all job sites without exception.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Work Experience- A four‑year college degree in a related field is desired.
- Minimum of four years related experience is required.
- Previous heavy construction or asphalt industry experience is required.
- Excellent computer skills and use of project management software.
- Strong mathematical skills for layout design and material calculations.
- Broad understanding of project management, budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Critical thinker who anticipates problems and is solution‑oriented.
- Fluent English (read, write, speak); meets FMCSA English proficiency requirements.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Passing pre‑employment drug, alcohol screening, and background check.
