Job Summary

The Center for Teaching and Learning at Mesa Community College seeks a collaborative and innovative Instructional Designer/Technologist to advance teaching and learning excellence. The role applies expertise in instructional design and educational technology to support faculty in creating engaging, accessible, and high‑quality learning experiences across modalities. Responsibilities include designing and delivering professional development, providing consultative support, developing evidence‑based resources, and partnering with eLearning and College Technology Services to evaluate, pilot, and implement emerging technologies.

Essential

Functions
  • 35% – Provide research‑based and needs‑responsive full‑service consultation, design, and facilitation of professional development in instructional innovation, online learning, pedagogy, instructional methodologies, and organizational development. Engage faculty, staff, and administrators to improve teaching and learning.
  • 20% – Provide leadership, vision, and coordination for instructional technology adoption and implementation across the college. Promote innovation and support faculty in integrating digital tools.
  • 20% – Administer the Learning Management System (LMS) and related instructional technologies (Simple Syllabus, Dropout Detective, Conex

    ED, etc.), providing faculty support and training.
  • 10% – Research, implement, and promote best practices for integrating educational technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and accessibility. Participate in district committees and collaborate with departments.
  • 10% – Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with trends in instructional design, learning science, accessibility, and emerging technologies.
  • 5% – Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in instructional design, training and development, educational technology, or a related field, and four years of experience in instructional design and development, program and systems development, and/or assessment and evaluation. Equivalency through a combination of degree and direct‑related full‑time work experience may be considered.
