Applications are being accepted to establish a pool of qualified candidates for the position of Adult Education Adjunct Instructor – General Education Course Microbiology (BIO 205) at the East Valley Institute of Technology. This is a part-time (8-week sessions; 3-4 credit load) position located at our Main Street campus in Mesa, AZ. The salary for this position is $1,500 per load credit.
Job DescriptionThe Adjunct Instructor will join a dynamic academic team at EVIT and provide competent classroom instruction in their area of credentialed expertise. The Adjunct Instructor will teach students who come from diverse backgrounds. This position is part-time and will teach in a general classroom setting and will support EVIT’s mission to provide high-quality education. Under the general supervision of the Director, the Adjunct Instructor will work with students to provide them with the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen career.
This position will continually assess and enhance the curriculum to meet EVIT’s educational requirements, the students’ needs while adhering to and following all rules and regulations of our accrediting organizations; thus, ensuring high academic standards at all times.
Salary: $1,500 per load credit
Job Type: Non-Exempt, As-needed
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Biological Sciences or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 18 graduate-level credits in biological and/or life sciences with a grade of "C" or higher.
- At least one year of collegiate-level teaching experience.
- Experience using Canvas, Google Classroom, and Exam Soft or similar learning management systems.
- Valid Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by Arizona Department of Public Safety.
- Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) if born after January 1, 1957.
- Two (2) years of collegiate-level teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to plan instruction aligned with course objectives and post lesson plans in a timely manner.
- Skilled in assessing students’ skill levels and developing appropriate learning objectives.
- Proficient in organizing instructional time, space, materials, and equipment to support effective learning.
- Ability to plan and implement engaging classroom activities and assignments that reinforce learning objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated punctuality and professionalism.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Ability to maintain a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in an academic setting.
- Commitment to fostering student success through innovative and interactive teaching methods.
