The Office of Global Outreach & Extended Education within the Ira

A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Academic Success Advisor, Sr. to join our Academic Advising team. The Academic Success Advisor, Senior acts as a key contributor to promoting and supporting student retention and graduation university-wide and advises students in making timely progress toward degree completion through a range of in-person and virtual academic counseling and support strategies.

This position is for experienced individuals with advanced training in academic advising and robust experience in student success activities.

Position Salary Range

$51,500.00 - $58,000.00 annually; DOE

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, procedures and methods of evidence‑based academic advising strategies.
  • Ability to direct and provide support to undergraduate and/or graduate students enrolled at the university.
  • Ability to utilize a wide range of software, student development theory and retention‑focused strategies.
  • Critical thinking skills to question, verify, and override AI outputs when necessary, ensuring the advice is appropriate for individual student circumstances.
  • Ability to work under direct supervision to support students by performing specific, articulated goals and outcomes.
  • Ability to understand general student requests for information and assistance; escalate urgent/conflicting requests.
  • Applies collaborative approaches and strategies to devise solutions for student requests.
  • Ability to utilize collegial interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships.
  • Engages understanding of advising theories and practices; regularly monitors assessment resources to refine and build practice.
  • Ability to rapidly master the essential new technology, practices, policies and methods.
  • Ability to prepare detailed documents, proposals, reports, and/or related materials.
  • Ability to provide analysis of data for identification of trends.
  • Ability to lead staff and program efforts.
  • Ability to create assessment plans and execute assessment reports.
  • Applies and demonstrates knowledge of supporting/guiding students through curriculum requirements; identifies and creates connections to resources for students to support goals; delivers advising practices in accordance to relevant university, college/department/school ethical and legal guidelines; actively builds knowledge of key university, or college/department/school resources.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working in an environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Skilled in problem solving, who can take initiative and set priorities, while being flexible.
  • Ability to develop action plans to meet goals; establishes milestones and timetables.
  • Documents activities and tracks progress.
