Regional Chief Engineer, Operations, Data Center Engg Ops
Join Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Regional Chief Engineer to support the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS’s global infrastructure. In this role you will help keep the cloud running by ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in our data centers, specifically in the PHX region where High‑Voltage Sub‑Station (HVSS) expertise is highly valued.
Key Job Responsibilities- Oversee day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, including HVSS.
- Operate independently with limited direct management, acting as the escalation point for all facility‑related issues.
- Perform root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and develop corrective actions.
- Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians (EOTs), CE teams, and vendor support.
- Provide training and guidance to EOTs, CE teams, and Facility Managers.
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and Amazon staff.
- Communicate complex technical information to non‑technical audiences.
- Work cross‑functionally to implement cluster‑wide performance improvements and processes that enhance the employee experience.
- Lead medium‑to‑large projects and programs from conception to completion, collaborating with engineering, automation, processing, and finance teams.

Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
- Experience in project management within data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure, including MEP.

Compensation for this position ranges from $98,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800/year in our highest market. Pay is based on location and may vary by experience, skills, and role responsibilities. Additional compensation may include equity, sign‑on payments, and a comprehensive benefits package.
