Job Description

The Power & GaN Technology Group is responsible for the design and production of RF Power Transistor and Amplifier Modules. We are currently looking for an RF Design Engineer working in our design center located in Mesa, AZ reporting to the Engineering lead.

A Design Engineer will be responsible for developing RF Amplifier Transistors, Pre-Matched Amplifiers, and Hybrid Modules in GaN technology, from concept and prototyping to production release phases, according to MACOM’s New Product Development procedures.

Job Responsibilities
  • Development of innovative power amplifier solutions for single and multiband high efficiency Doherty applications.
  • Be responsible for the design, drafting, testing, and releasing of new power amplifier products.
  • Design RF amplifier evaluation boards and production test fixtures.
  • Device testing and characterization including s-parameters, large signal, load-pull, stability over temperature and VSWR, as well as market specific measurements on a per-product basis.
  • Be responsible for status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing test data.
  • Works closely with cross functional teams including product management, marketing, systems and algorithms teams, product engineering, operations, reliability, quality, test engineering, and procurement.
  • Follow a formal stage-gate new product introduction process.
Qualifications
  • M.S.E.E. or equivalent experience.
  • 7 to 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Working experience with industry standard non-linear circuit simulators such as ADS and AWR.
  • Electromagnetic modeling software such as HFSS or equivalent.
  • Familiar with s-parameter and nonlinear measurements using industry standard test equipment (spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, power meter, thermal imaging, etc.).
  • Hands-on board level tuning.
  • Understanding the design of microwave evaluation boards including both electrical and thermal aspects.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other drawing packages is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within schedule constraints.
  • Good communication, organization and documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build long lasting partnerships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
