Overview

First review of applications will be on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Process construction applications, plan submittals, and building and right‑of‑way permits.
  • Tabulate payments for permits and development impact fees.
  • Issue construction permits and review basic plans.
  • Post inspection results and interpret basic building codes and ordinances, including building inspection‑related subjects.
  • Perform routine engineering and data entry duties in support of development services records and research activities.
  • Answer questions and explain/interpret policies and procedures of the work unit.
  • Receive, process, and coordinate requests for new utility installations and changes to existing utilities.
  • Dispatch crews for service and emergency calls and transmit requests for various development‑related services.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • One year of work experience involving extensive customer contact and six months of work experience involving construction and/or land development.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are desirable.
  • Two years of work experience involving extensive customer contact is preferred.
  • One year of experience involving construction and/or land development in municipal government work is preferred.
  • Word processing, database, and/or spreadsheet experience is preferred.
  • Certification as a Permits Technician is highly desirable.
  • Experience involving in‑person customer contact with a private or public construction, utility, or development‑related organization is also desirable.
