Overview

As a Clinical Research Photographer, you’ll be responsible for daily patient care and clinical flow. You will be responsible for accurately photographing fluorescein angiograms, ICG, fundus photos, and OCT’s.

Responsibilities
  • Promptly and professionally assist the doctor in patient care.
  • Perform technical workups, patient interviews, and special testing.
  • Communicate with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, surgery scheduling, etc.
  • Maintain and clean all equipment being used; report to manager if not in working condition.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Interview patients prior to photography testing to ensure awareness of any health or allergy restrictions.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular meds.
  • Have a working understanding and accurately perform the following: B-Scans, fundus photos, fluorescein angiography, ICG, FAF, and OCT’s.
  • Utilize proper eye drop technique and sterility.
  • Utilize proper universal precaution procedures.
  • Understand and follow procedures for procedural consents.
  • Display consistent professionalism.
  • Be energetic and empathetic with patients.
  • Consistently display positive rapport with fellow employees.
  • Cooperate with supervisory staff and physicians.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in job assignment.
  • Take pride and ownership in success and image of AVP.
  • Demonstrate initiative in accomplishing practice goals.
  • Conform to all AVP policies and procedures including punctuality, attendance and dress codes.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and in working order.
  • Ensure sufficient fluorescein dye and medical supplies for fluorescein angiograms.
  • Secure subject information before filming: determine study eye, pathology to be photographed, and whether they are in stereo.
  • Maintain research photography protocol binders and resources.
  • Photograph subjects as per the study protocol.
  • Upload all research photos per the study protocol and answer any queries that may arise.
  • Complete GCP certification prior to working on any research protocols.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year experience ophthalmology.
  • Previous experience and/or training on Optos California, Heidelberg Spectrails, OCT Cirrus, Visucam (equipment modalities) within ophthalmology and photography (retina ideal).
  • Knowledge of medical instrumentation and its proper care and usage.
  • Tech savvy – heavy computer work with submissions of photos (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook proficiency).
  • Solid understanding of the OSHA blood‑borne pathogen requirements.
  • Solid understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, co‑workers and supervisor.
  • Must be willing to help in all areas and understand the need for efficient use of time.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
