Seeking an experienced Lead Payroll Specialist to serve as the subject matter expert for the Kronos payroll platform, managing full-cycle weekly payroll processing for approximately 1,500 employees across staff and consumer populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Kronos Platform Management: Process bi-weekly payroll for 1,200 staff and 300 consumers using Kronos, including audits, system updates, and serving as the primary SME for the platform
- Full-Cycle Payroll Processing: Manage complete payroll operations from timesheet collection through final reporting, ensuring accurate wage calculations, tax with holdings, and compliance with federal and state regulations
- Benefits & Deductions Administration: Process complex benefit deductions including 403B and 457 retirement plans, while maintaining accurate employee records for job changes, exemptions, and savings deductions
- Process Improvement & Documentation: Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while applying analytical skills to streamline payroll processes and increase efficiency
- Compliance & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive payroll reports for management and auditing, calculate payroll liabilities, process W-2 forms, and ensure adherence to payroll laws and best practices
- Communication & Problem Resolution: Monitor and respond to payroll inquiries (approximately 50 daily emails), resolve payroll discrepancies, and maintain clear communication with internal teams and external stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with Kronos payroll platform, including audit and update functions
- Full-cycle payroll processing experience for large employee populations
- Strong analytical mindset with process improvement capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Payroll tax knowledge strongly preferred
