Sign Language Interpreter

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides interpreting services to deaf/hard of hearing students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and ASL into spoken English for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classrooms, labs, tutoring sessions, and campus events.
• Accurately convey the content, spirit, and intent of all communication, including technical or academic jargon.
• Adjust language register appropriately depending on the setting and individuals involved.
• Adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct and any state licensing or credentialing standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid AZ license (Generalist, Provisional B or Provisional

C)
Valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and/or BEI certification (where applicable).HOURLY RATE:

Provisional License C $33.78 - $34.07/hour Provisional License B $43.07 - $42.36/hour Generalist License $56.31 - $60.17/hour depending on education level
