Position Summary
This position is responsible for the support and maintenance of the facility and equipment necessary to support production. The role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled repairs of facility and production equipment before, during and/or after production.
- Communicate and coordinate with plant supervisors and managers to ensure overall plant schedules are achieved.
- Be a self‑starter and able to work with little or no supervision.
- Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule and give proper notice to supervisors.
- Ensure quick response to equipment‑related safety concerns.
- Maintain the facility and machinery to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
- Schedule required maintenance personnel for on‑call duty, where applicable.
- Perform mechanic skills which include mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Observe all safety rules and policies and comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
- Communicate effectively with team members, give guidance and support management decisions.
- Regularly maintain a clean work area and shop.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Display a positive attitude when dealing with fellow employees, help promote company policies and procedures and function well in a team environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Education / Experience / Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One (1) year experience in a related field.
- Four (4) years of related experience in maintenance and production.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Able to use multi‑meters and power tools.
- Experience with lockout/tagout (LO/TO).
- Strong analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Basic working knowledge of computer and PLC‑based machinery and systems.
- Basic knowledge of dust collection systems and components.
- Basic knowledge of spark suppression systems and fire control systems.
- Mechanically inclined with ability to resolve technical problems.
- Ability to troubleshoot motor controls.
- Basic knowledge of wiring (lighting, switches, etc.).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and theory in assigned area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree, or equivalent work experience with a minimum of four (4) years as a maintenance technician.
- Technical training and exposure to high‑speed equipment.
Working Environment
- Manufacturing environment requiring precautionary safety equipment (safety glasses, ear plugs, closed‑toe shoes, gloves, etc.).
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Fast‑paced work environment.
- Handling and moving product without damage.
- Repetitive tasks while staying focused.
- Standing for eight (8) hours or more per day, with bending and twisting.
- Ability to lift, push or pull up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Capability to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear; specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Full‑time position, shift hours vary; mandatory overtime including weekends may be required depending on workload.
