CNC Machinist

Summary

Willowwood is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our dynamic machine shop team. As a vital member of our product development and production teams, you will work closely with our lead machinist and engineering team to drive innovation and excellence in machining processes. This is a first shift position, Monday – Friday. Compensation: $20-30/hour plus overtime. Full benefits offered.

• Implement G‑code and set up fixtures for production runs.
• Collaborate with the lead machinist to optimize feeds, speeds, and tooling for efficient machining.
• Install and configure tools and equipment according to job requirements.
• Make adjustments to G‑code as necessary to enhance efficiency.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
• Perform production tasks across various areas as needed.
• Participate in preventive maintenance of shop equipment.
• Other duties as required.

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience with CNC lathes, mills, screw machines, and metal fabrication tools; prior machine‑setup experience preferred.
• Proficiency in G‑code programming.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.
• Understanding of materials (e.g., titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, plastics) to select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds.
• Familiarity with quality‑control tools such as micrometers, calipers, and CMM.
• Ability to mentor and train junior machinists, providing guidance and safety‑protocol training.
• Commitment to staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Strong problem‑solving skills in product fabrication.
• Ability to work independently, multitask, and collaborate effectively.
• Proficiency in using PCs for documentation.
• Effective communication skills with team members, engineers, and other departments.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and production schedules.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and machine operations to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
