Schedule / Job TypeContract | 13 Weeks | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Every other weekend required; holiday coverage expected based on unit need
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a 19-bed Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–5
- Manage a patient population that includes A-fib with rapid ventricular response, respiratory distress, urosepsis, weakness, and post-surgical recoveries (total hips, knees, hernia repairs); no pediatric patients
- Administer and monitor set-rate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin; titration is not required — set rate only
- Verify telemetry readings in coordination with remote central monitoring; RNs verify monitor readings three times per shift
- Collaborate with charge nurse, nurse aides, and unit secretary to support unit operations; potential to serve in a charge nurse role depending on experience and staffing needs
- Participate in a 1–2 shift preceptored orientation upon arrival to the unit
- Active RN license valid in Arizona or compact state eligibility
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical or Telemetry RN experience
- First-time travelers will be considered
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin) strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience a plus
- Supportive unit environment with charge nurse coverage on all shifts and a collaborative care team including nurse aides and unit secretarial support
- Scheduling flexibility considered — management works with travelers to establish a workable schedule within unit needs
