The Retail & Production Associate provides operational support across The Soap Gal and Maker’s Haven to ensure consistent quality, service, and efficiency between the retail store and production operations. This position assists with daily store operations, cashiering, inventory management, labeling, packaging, and restocking. The Floater role offers flexibility to work between locations based on business needs and is a key contributor to maintaining an organized, customer-focused, and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities Store Operations- Support store opening and closing routines as directed.
- Operate the POS system, process sales, and provide courteous customer service.
- Restock shelves, maintain visual displays, and keep the retail space clean and organized.
- Follow established policies for cash handling and store procedures.
- Assist customers with product questions and recommendations.
- Assist with labeling, packaging, and preparing products for sale or distribution.
- Support product movement between the store and production areas to maintain stock accuracy.
- Help with counting, sorting, and organizing inventory.
- Participate in packaging and order fulfillment for retail and online orders.
- Communicate supply needs and low inventory levels to the Lead Associate or management.
- Work collaboratively with team members across both locations.
- Follow direction from the Lead Associate and management team.
- Maintain a professional, team-oriented attitude and contribute to a positive work culture.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–2 years of experience in retail, customer service, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in production, crafting, or hands‑on manufacturing is a plus.
- Familiarity with artisan bath and body products, natural ingredients, or small‑batch production is helpful but not required—training will be provided.
- Must have a consistent track record of reliability, teamwork, and adaptability, especially in roles that require transitioning between tasks or departments.
- Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support production schedules.
- Must not be sensitive to fragrances and scents.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including goggles, gloves, and respiratory protection, as needed.
- Ability to lift or assist in lifting items and heavy boxes up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, twist, stoop, kneel or crouch. Willingness to adhere to strict hygiene and cleanliness standards in a soap manufacturing environment.
Primarily based at The Soap Gal and Maker’s Haven locations, including the retail storefront, inventory/stock areas, classroom space, and production environments. Work may involve regular movement between both facilities.
At The Soap Gal, raw materials such as powders, oils, and fragrances may become airborne during production processes. Appropriate ventilation is utilized, and additional personal protective equipment is available upon request. At Maker’s Haven, duties may include supporting retail operations, assisting in classroom setups, and working in inventory areas where lifting, organizing, and product handling are required.
