Description

A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a full‑time, non‑exempt Campus Safety Officer (CSO) on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The CSO is responsible for all matters of campus safety on assigned shifts. The CSO monitors security cameras and provides protection and security for all assigned properties of A.T. Still University. The schedule for this position is second shift.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • While working standard shift hours, the CSO will assist the 24‑hour Campus Safety team, which includes first, second, and third shifts, as well as weekend shifts upon request.
  • Will provide customer service to Students, Faculty, and Staff within the Campus Safety Office or satellite location.
  • Will assist in the creation of new s and update electronic access within the access control platform.
  • Manages lost and found property, including inventorying and disposal.
  • Lock and unlock selected doors on a daily basis according to departmental procedures.
  • Assist in the Patrol of the premises on a non‑scheduled basis.
  • Check premises for fire and safety hazards on a daily basis and report any hazards found to the Security Supervisor immediately.
  • Perform confidential investigations in matters pertaining to alleged losses, thefts, and wrongful acts of individuals affecting security, and complete an incident report accurately as needed. Investigative responsibilities do not extend to matters governed by ATSU Policy 90‑210 Prohibition of Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation. Instances of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation must be referred to the Title IX and Civil Rights Coordinator.
  • Question strangers and make sure they have a legitimate reason for their presence as needed.
  • Respond within a timely manner to emergency calls as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Reports Management System (RMS) and the distribution of safety and security‑related incident reports.
  • Maintain registration files of employee and student vehicles as needed.
  • Ensure parking regulations are in compliance with policies on an ongoing basis.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous security or related experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.
  • Interact effectively with various segments of the public, including, but not limited to, faculty, employees, students, patients, and visitors.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Telephone number or other means for immediate contact must be made available.
  • Use of the two‑way radio.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to be creative and take individual initiative and responsibility.
  • Knowledge and understanding of dispatching procedures are highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, able to multitask, and understand the importance of timely follow‑through.
  • Experience working with different software platforms, which will include door access systems, surveillance camera systems, report management systems, and service request systems.
