DEFINITION

Under general supervision, assists in planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing the instructional and non-instructional services and activities provided under the City of Mesquite programs; and performs related duties as assigned.

Essential functions are those functions that the individual who holds the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation

Serve as a representative of the City of Mesquite, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and with the public.

Provide excellent customer care by guiding participants in activities and maintaining a safe, clean, and friendly environment.

Open the door and greet parents when signing in and picking up children from programs.

Before releasing the child from the program, asks parents for proper government-issued picture ensures they are on the Participant Information form before releasing the child.

Instruct and assists with various arts, crafts, games, and sports by explaining the rules or techniques pertaining to such activities.

Assist with roll call and head counts.

Assist with the use of creative methods of attention getters.

Assist in the supervision of children during bathroom breaks, hand washing, clean up after activity.

Assist in the supervision of children during homework time, quiet activity and snack time.

Assist in the supervision of children during outside and free time.

Assist with setting up materials to be used for activities.

Assist in the supervision of children during scheduled activities.

Praise children for excellent behaviors.

Assist with the enforcement of rules, regulations, and safety precautions of programs and facilities.

Be dependable and meet acceptable attendance requirements at all times.

Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of City and department policies and procedures, federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations and licensing requirements.
